Tracey Gear & Precision Shaft is a family-owned job shop in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, established in 1945. We manufacture custom gears, splines, and precision shafts to customer blueprints on lathes, machining centers, gear hobbers and shapers, surface, ID, OD, and thread grinding machines, and broaching machines.

Quality Control Inspector
Pawtucket, Rhode Island • Full-time • $33–37/hr, depending on experience • Immediate opening
We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Inspector to be responsible for in-process and final inspection across a wide variety of gears, splines, and shafts. We have many customers with different requirements, and the work varies from day to day. Candidates must be comfortable in a job-shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process inspections
- Collaborate on preferred measurement strategies
- Perform all final inspections, including formal reports as needed
- Maintain the database of all measuring instruments and calibrate as needed
- Work on the production floor and in the QC room
- Stand for much of the workday and lift and move parts, which are sometimes heavy
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an inspector or machinist
- Expertise in reading blueprints and interpreting and applying GD&T
- Ability to measure part features using manual instruments
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers
Preferred
- CMM experience
