Keyway Broach & Broaching Services
At Tracey Gear & Precision Shaft, we offer pull broaching, push broaching, and keyway shaping. For more complex or higher accuracy work, we also offer EDM. Broaching is a very cost effective way to machine keyways, splines, or other internal shapes into a part.
Our extensive inventory of keyway broaches allows us to broach most standard and metric standard keyways up to 1” width. Additionally, we have many American Standard Parallel Spline and involute spline broaches. Our shaping capabilities allow us to machine non-standard widths as well as blind keyways.
Our broached keyway widths are accurate to ±0.0005”, depths to ±0.001, and symmetry to ±0.001”. Tighter tolerances are available using EDM. We can broach parts as small as 1” outside diameter up to 36” outside diameter.
The materials we process in broaching include metals of all grades (less than 33 Rc hardness), bronzes, plastics, and phenolics. Along with CMM inspection, we use a variety of precision metrology instruments, including optical comparator to ensure that the dimensions measure up to your specifications.
