Straight Bevel Gears Made to Your Print
Tracey Gear & Precision Shaft manufactures straight bevel gears to customer blueprints, including angular bevel gears and miter gears, up to 14″ in diameter from 3 to 24 diametral pitch. We generate bevel gears on Gleason straight bevel generators and prefer to cut the gear and pinion as a matched set so we can verify tooth contact between them. Every gear is made in our Pawtucket, Rhode Island facility under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system, in small to medium production runs, 100% in the USA.
We are a build-to-print shop. You supply a complete engineering drawing, and we develop the manufacturing method to hold the gear data, tolerances, and finishes it calls out.

How We Make Them
- We generate bevel gear teeth on Gleason straight bevel generators
- We cut the gear and pinion as a matched set and verify tooth contact between them
- We produce gear blanks, bores, and hubs by CNC turning & milling
- We finish bores and critical diameters by CNC grinding
- We cut keyways and internal splines in gear bores by broaching

Materials
We manufacture bevel gears in steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, cast iron, and nylon, as specified on your print. Your drawing must call out the material. We do not recommend or select materials.

We manage heat treating, plating, and passivation through our network of qualified vendors, so you receive a finished gear from a single supplier. We provide material and process certifications when required.

What size bevel gears can you make?
We manufacture straight bevel gears up to 14″ in diameter, from 3 to 24 diametral pitch. For bevel teeth cut on shafts, we handle parts up to approximately 1.75″ in diameter and 24″ long.
What quality are your bevel gears?
We produce commercial-grade straight bevel gears on Gleason generators. We prefer to cut the gear and pinion as a matched set so we can verify tooth contact. We do not certify bevel gears to an AGMA quality class.
Do you cut angular bevel gears?
Yes. We cut angular bevel gears for shafts that meet at angles other than 90°, as specified on your drawing.
Should I order the gear and pinion together?
We prefer to. Cutting the gear and pinion as a matched set lets us verify tooth contact between them before they ship.
Can you make a bevel gear from a sample part?
No. We do not reverse engineer parts or work from samples. We require a complete engineering drawing.
